How to reach the island By ship

Mykonos is connected daily by ferry from both Piraeus and Rafina. The trip takes about 5 hours from Piraeus or 2.5–3 hours from Rafina, depending on the vessel. There are also regular routes to many Cycladic islands, Crete and the Dodecanese. The island has three ports: the old port near Chora, the new port in Tourlos (mainly for catamarans), and a smaller one for Delos excursions.

How to reach the island By air

Mykonos Airport is located just 4 km from the main town (Chora) and is easily accessible by taxi or bus. Daily flights connect the island to Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”, with a flight duration of approximately 35 to 40 minutes. During the summer season, there are also direct international flights from major European cities, making Mykonos a well-connected destination.

Transportation on the island Local Buses (KTEL)

There are 3 main starting points.

  • Starting Point 1: From Aghios Fokas- Fabrika square to Platys Gialos, Psarou, Paradise, Paragka, Ornos, Aghios Ioannis (time 15 min – tkts €1,60).
  • Starting Point 2: From OTΕ behind the Archaeological Museum to Ano Mera (time 20′ – tkt €1,60), Kalafati, Elia (time 30′ – tkt €1,90).
  • Starting Point 3: Old Port to new Tourlos Port and Aghios Stefanos (time 5′ – tkts €1,60)

Tickets are sold at mini markets, tobacco shops, tourist shops), at the automatic machines at the Starting Points and at the hotels.

Transportation on the island Taxi

There are 2 taxi stands, one in the central square of Chora, Mando Mavrogenous and the second, in the bus starting point for the southern beaches, at Fabrika area. There are no taxi meters. The rates are fixed for each destination/ itinerary on the island.
